Bonjour les gens,
Je m'appelle Olivia, j'ai 18 ans. Je viens de Belgique mais je suis actuellement exchange student au Michigan (USA) pour 10 mois.
J'ai eu ma famille tres tot (a la difference d'alice;-)): en mars, je partais fin aout. J'ai echange beaucoup d'emails avec eux et donc j'etais impatiente de les rencontrer. Cependant, apres qq semaines ici, j'ai vite decouvert qu'on etait tres different. Mais je me suis adaptee! Et je les aime tout de meme malgre leur differences et defauts (il m'a fallu du temps...) Ils ne sont donc pas du tout voyageur :-(
J'ai vecu une experience geniale dans l'equipe de natation, maintenant j'ai essaye l'athletisme mais je me suis explose les genoux donc j'ai arrete.
J'aime beaucoup mon high school meme si tous les jours se ressemblent parce qu'on a tous les jours les memes cours.
J'aime aussi le cote international de l'experince: avec mon organisation ici, j'ai pu rencontrer des exchanges students du monde entier! (bcp d'allemand)
Voila, je crois que j'ai resume moi et mon experience...
Ah oui, avant que je quitte la ptite Belgique quelqu'un m'a dit que c'etait une experience a ne pas rater parce que ca changeait une vie. Aujourd'hui, apres pres de 8 mois ici, je dirais que oui c'est vrai, etre exchange student ca change une vie, une personne mais pas toujours de la facon dont on s'y attend. En effet, pour moi (et pour bcp d'etudiants dont j'ai entendu parler), c'est une experience parfois tres dure, c'est pas toujours rose.
Enfin, au total, on en sort grandi...

I'm Olivia and I'm 18. I come from Belgium but I'm currently an exchange student in Michigan (usa) for 10 months. I got my family very early ( contrary to alice): in march, I was leaving end of august. I sent them lots of emails and so, I was looking forward to meet them. However, after a few weeks here, I found out that we were very different. But I adjusted myself ! And I still love them despite their difference and flaws.(It took me a while...) They don't travel at all :-( I had an amazing experience in the swim team, and now I tried to run track but I hurt my knees, so I quited.I like a lot my high school even if all the days are the same because we have the same classes every day. I also like the side international at this experience: with my organisation here, I met students from the whole world! (a lot of german). So I think I summed up me and my experience... Oh yes, before I left Belgium someone told me that it was an experience not to miss because it changed a life. Today, after almost 8 months here, I would say yes, being an exchange student change a life, a person but not always in the way that we are expecting it. Indeed, for me ( and for many exchange students that I heard from), it is an experience sometimes hard, not always pink. But,finaly, at the end, you are more grown-up...

i couldn't agree more with what you said !! no easy every day, but great, amazing !!! it changes a life and it really makes us grow up especially when we have some hard times !!!

Aaah sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who had had hard times and that everyone else has a perfect wonderful experience... Good to see that it's not true!

Hard time is just for now, it's a "better" for the future!
